The year 2020 has many highlights in Vietnam that we can look back with many memories. Economically, some of the biggest news in Vietnam are the country’s ratification with the European Union of the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) in August and Vietnam’s continued benefit of the global supply chain shift. Certainly the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic and its terrible economic impact worldwide was the biggest news in Vietnam and around the world; however, Vietnam’s successful containment of Covid-19 were especially noteworthy and won it many accolades around the globe.
The Vietnamese government made tremendous efforts and mandated timely measures to control and prevent the spread of the pandemic. This success and its continued liberal trade policies are being noticed by other countries and are appealing to many investors and entrepreneurs around the world. A recent study shows that Vietnam is in the top 16 most successful emerging economies in the world, with many prospects to narrow the gap with developed countries amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Economist.
